On Saturday, 13th of December, was officially opened the new winter season 2003/2004 in the town of Bankso. The world-famous Italian skier Alberto Tomba was welcomed by 20-30 000 people, who have gathered in the town. He was chosen to be the symbol of Bansko and gave his name to the ex-Banderishka polyana piste. Alberto Tomba arrived early in the morning and paid a visit to the local orphanage, where he made a generous donation to the children.
