Tony H - Ski boots

Balkan charge extra for boots in bags. We have ski bag with compartments either end for boots - they just put this through. You can buy a sports bag and put boots inside with clothes - they allow this within the 20kg luggage allowance.

about £15 for each boot bag! Buy a wheelie sports holder.

We put our boots/bootbags in the bags with our clothes - you can pack them with socks and stuff - and just check them in as normal. No problem.

Thanks for posting this. I was under the impression that your boots went throughina seperate boot bag covered by your ski carriage. I think I'll just stick them in with my clothes now.

Bit of a con really though! Who takes their own skis but rents boots!!!

re: Tony H - Ski boots

boots normally come under your lug allowance, have never had an extra charge for them, think the low cost airlines are the worst for charging extra, they charge £15 each way for ski carriage,

re: Tony H - Ski boots

As I said in a previous thread, I have never been charged for boot bags with Balkan, never. We have been with Balkan 9 times in the last 14 years, always had at least 2 boot bags never had a problem never cost money. Winksb

re: Tony H - Ski boots

Just returned from Borovets. Took my own skis and boots and as usual, never paid for the carriage. I would not encourage anyone to be dishonest but as i have previsouly stated on the discussion board, simply do not pay up front. If they ask you, have you paid then pay on the day. In all my years, i have never been asked if i have payed so therefore i have never had to lie to the airport staff.
