Top Tips

My mate & I are off to Borovets this Saturday (sorry, can't refer to it as Boro without getting images of Geordies in my head).

Are there any decent off licences in the resort?

I only ask because I'm hoping to pick up a bottle of Bulgarian vodka, which I understand is 88% ABV, and has a mere 13 health warnings on the label.

Failing that, what's the local drink like?

Any recommendations?

Not an off licence as we would describe it but there are shops that sell boose in The Rila for example. If you want to blow your head off try Rakia. ts nothing like the stuff you get in Greece but my god its hard work!! If you want x-treme Rakia then ask a Bulgarian to give you some from home. I went to a music festival last year with some Bulgarian mates drinking lager at 1lv a litre and home made Rakia..... the rest is all but a blur......

I realise it's not the 1950s anymore & northerners have upgraded their wardrobes since the "When the Boat Comes In" documentary series was shown.
