We have just received our tickets and noticed that we were flying into Sofia when we booked this the travel agent recommended Pamporovo due to the shorter transfer from Plovdiv rather than Bansko as the transfer was about 3 1/2 hours.
I usually go to France and would class myself as an intermediate boarder but I have a beginner coming with me this time. What resort would be best to go to Pamps or Bansko?
So much depends on the conditions Angela - and they can change in just 1 night.
I love Pamporovo because of what it has given me over the years in terms of enjoyment and friends that I have made. As a boarder, if you check out the lads at the Snowshack you will have friends for life. Ted, Gary and Steve are all from Manchester but now live in Bulgaria. They are supported by Stan who is Bulgarian but he says very little!

If it were all about slopes and runs, then Pamporovo cannot compete with Bansko. I have tried all 3 main resorts and personally - I still prefer Pamporovo but Bansko does have the most runs.
Stick with Pamporovo for your first visit - I promise you will love it
Hi Angela,
the transfer takes under three hours ussualy, that is without stops.
If you stop, just add the lenght of that stop
Let me know if you need any help at all. I am locally based in Chepelare, it's a second ski resort only 10km from Pamporovo. I can show you around and take you and your family to Chepelare for skiing from Pamps one day for a change. Please reply to my e-mail address if you'd like to get in touch.
Have a great holiday, Pavel
