Seeing as some of the slopes at Borovets are going to be out all season, I was thinking about getting in a day's skiing at another resort.
Bansko looks the closest - can anyone advise on costs/time of making the trip and the cost of a day's lift pass at Bansko? Are any other resorts within reach for a day trip?
Don't know about the cost of the lift pass. Transport is quite cheap and the more that go the cheaper it works out per person.
I asked a question via email as to why the pistes were closed but never got a reply
I mentioned this earlier on the discussion board and got the answer that it was due to safety, don't know any more than that though would like to hear the official version.
Seems strange that the biggest ski resort in Bulgaria has some 30% or so of it's pistes closed during ...

Hey Phil,
Bansko looks much nearer as it is to go by car. Nearer or better faster to go is the Vitoscha near by Sofia. To Bansko you need minimum 2 and a half or 3 hours. You have to go first with the minibus to Samokov there take the bus to Razlog or Blagoevgrad and from there the next one to Bansko. To the Vitoscha you have to take the bus to Sofia from Samokov needs around a 1 hour to Sofia, from there the best is to take a taxi, really cheap in Sofia. Or there is a small town/resort is ...

Or there is a small town/resort is called Maljovica, around 20km away from Borovez airline.
īBest is to ask in the resort for trip to Maljovica.
To Bansko and Sofia to expenisve... they will charge you around 100 lev or more for both ways. And you will be not sure if anyone will waiting to you to bring you back.May be your touroperator can help you to find a driver. If you get a package to Maljovica may be 25 to 30 lev they will charge you for both ways.
Sometimes in the lower part of the resort is a taxi driver with an old Tshiguli car he's okay and have an translation book in the car, he make fair prices.
So the best is I think ...
