Two centre holiday report

Yes we have finally got time to give a report on our two centre holiday. The first week was spent in Golden Sands at the Luna hotel which was about 15 mins walk or a 1 lev 'noddy train' ride from the lively centre.

* the hotel- excellent, good location at the quieter end of golden sands. The food was good although it edged towards the german taste buds ( breakfast )

* the hotel- excellent, good location at the quieter end of golden sands. The food was good although it edged towards the german taste buds ( breakfast )

* Food and drink outside the hotel- there were plenty of places to eat and drink all excellent value for money i.e 1/2 litre of beer 2.5levs (aprox 75p)

* Night life! - plenty to do to suit all ages. Up in the centre there are lots of clubs, karaoke bars etc (if you don't want children to see the ladies of the night then be out of this area by about midnight, although they do leave familys alone and they are not 'in your face') There are also plenty of cocktail bars where you can enjoy a quieter drink

* Overall - good beach/sea plenty to do , friendly people HAD A GREAT TIME

BUT.............................The best part of this 2 centre holiday for us was BANSKO.

* hotel pirin-only had BB here, breakfast was good, hotel locatoin was perfect 2 min walk to centre

* Food and drink out side of the hotel was even better and believe it or not even cheaper than golden sands i.e as a family of 4 we were all having a large meal with drinks for about 35levs (£12)

* The pirin mountains are beautiful (even without the snow!) plenty of walks through pine forests, mountain tracks and meadows. GREAT SCENERY

* We noticed alot of new ski runs/stations/hotels being built which we were told would be ready for the winter season

* Overall if you want to find the 'real' bulgaria and its people bansko in summer is GREAT

p.s there was snow in pockets still around high up in the mountains!!!!!!!!!!!!

re: Two centre holiday report

Thanks Wendy and Co. It sounds like you had a really great holiday. I take it Sophie stayed in one piece whilst out there!!

You obviously found plenty to do in both resorts and it sounds like you found something for everyone - so all in all a good holiday!

We're off to Turkey on Friday. Apparently it is very hot so we may regret our decision. I have found a discussion board like this one and the Turks sound as friendly as the Bulgarians so fingers crossed for a great time!

Hi Mrs Fleet, glad you had a great trip I must get around to doing Bulgaria in the summer. Your 2 week version sounds very tempting.

Ellie I went to turkey last year and we are going again in October. The Turks are great very friendly. They love the brits. The only thing I dont like is the hassle when you walk past any place that sells food/ drink." Ah my friend welcome come in best food in town!" But hey small price to pay

re: Two centre holiday report

Thanks for that Daniel.

In fact we went to Turkey for our Honeymoon in 1990 and vowed never to go again!!! mainly because of the hassle you had when you went out. As you can imagine we are going this time with an open mind. We got a good deal and felt we needed a holiday so we shall see!!

Hope you have a good summer break

re: Two centre holiday report

Thanks for your report. We are off to France on Saturday( yes I know, but somebody has to go there!!), but next year plan a change. If we are not dragged off to the delights of Bodrum by our teenager, Bansko in the summer sounds ideal. We are in Bansko for the New Year and looked forward to seeing all the new changes from last year.

Thanks Caz

We only booked a few weeks ago as having been skiing, me away for my 40th and a tshort break planned to Rome in October we weren't sure we would be able to get away.

Unfortunately the deal we got for Turkey was too good to miss and was for 2 weeks. Believe it or not there was hardly any availability for Bulgaria - only 1 week at a time and all allocation on arrival which we aren't prepared to do with Alister & Rosie in tow!! Bulgaria really does appear to be the place ...

Bulgaria really does appear to be the place to be this summer which is of course great for their eceonomy.

Spoke to Krassi the other day and hopefully we may get to see him whilst he is over in September which would be good.

Hope you are all well and managing to dodge the rain on any of your camping trips.
