Two-way radios...

Been looking at the various Motorola licence-free two way radios/walkie-talkies available and also know that they are becoming more and more popular with skiers as it is totally free to keep in contact with your buddies and other halves as opposed to using your mobiles all the time. You will only have to pay for the batteries and that is it!!

Does anyone use these and what do you think of them? fairly good signal in Bulgaria?

Loads of People use them for the reasons you stated. We got 4 radios from Maplin online which have 5km range for £40.00.

Good luck.

re: Two-way radios...

Sorry but this may seem a stupid question, so I will ask it!

Can you leave a message on these things? If I am gliding down the slope ( more like in a heap somewhere!!) and I do not hear someone getting in touch with me is there anyway I know someone has tried to ??

Cheers

Hi Ally

What is the make and model number of your walkie talkies? Did you have any problems with them out there if loads of other people are using them too.

Hi Ruds
It may be a little impractical, but you can get voice activated headsets for the Motorola models, you will look a little like a sports presenter as they are a little bulky, another option is an ear bud type, the same as you get with mobile phones.
At least then you will be able to hear if anyone calls you...

Hope this helps...
