re: Ulen Ski School

Hi Malcolm, the Bansko phone code is +359 7443 and some numbers for Ulen from the back of the lift map are:

6450, 6451 & 6452

The Map is in Bulgarian so I am not sure where in Ulen you would be calling. However, they should be able to pass you onto who you need.

PS Make sure you visit the following forum if you are thinking of buying in Bansko:

Malcolm,

the work permit might be a problem to get. also the Bulgarian ski Federation only recognise a BASI 1 licence and nothing lower from a foreign federation. You must also be member of ISIA.

Ulen are open in the summer. Have you though about applying to a tour operator as they will organise visas etc for you.

Cheers guys,

all this is very good. I am ISIA qualified which is equivalent of the old BASI 2, now as Bulgaria is a member of the ISIA it is recognised for me to work there. I have read about a new ski/board school opening up near the gondola. was it an english boarder i read is starting it up next year?
You say the work permit might be a problem.I was led to believe you had to show you were doing a job there were no bulgarians to do or that could not be done by them. Now with the influx ...

Now with the influx of british people to Bansko there will be a shortage of english spkin instructors no doubt. Thus it should be alright when applying for work permit....
all views welcome.lmk wot u think

re: Ulen Ski School

You need to get the "D" type visa first from the Bulgarian Embassy which you will apply for on the basis of your employment from the ski school. At the same time, the ski school should apply to the ministry of labour in sofia to get you a permission to work.

when you have both of these you will enter the country, then apply for your extension on the basis of the visa and work permit!!!!!
Now you're really confused Confused

this could change if bulgaria drops the regulations for foreigners ...
