re: Ungrateful....

You will have been spoilt by skiing in Canada, I doubt anywhere in the world will compare. You need to take Bulgaria on with the right attitude. If you like skiing and enjoy a beer afterwards you will be more than fine. There aren't as many runs as Western Europe / States or Canada but this is a developing country that is making the most of what they have got. They are warm and friendly people but it will be nothing like Canada so treat Bulgaria on its own merit. I've skiied all over ...

The skiing is better elsewhere but I much prefer the people of Bulgaria and the atmosphere that is created by them.

re: Ungrateful....

Tony I grew up in Vancover, Canada 2hours away from Whistler and 3 other really good mountains, I've never been to Bulgaria skiing and this Febuary will be my first time. Look at it this way there wont be half the pretentious possers clogging up the slopes that I used to see at Whistler, and by all accounts in Bulgaria you have a good chance of being treat like a person not just another number. Give it a go if you don't like it well you don't like it. Nothing ventured nothing gained mate!

Bulgaria is not for snobs, but for people with open minds and hearts.
(Also,if you see beggars anywhere, remember:they are NOT Bulgarian, but Gypsy.Bulgarians are very proud people and don't beg or steal.)
Expect nice quaint warm atmosphere, beautiful nature, good people.Where are you staying,BTW?

re: Ungrateful....

I would imagine that your Bulgarian ski trip has cost you less than half (if not more than) the cost of your canadian trips so you should not go trying to compare the two or you will be disappointed.
Enjoy the atmosphere of the place - at the end of the day there is decent snow coverage, sufficient runs and good night life to keep anyone entertained for a week. Have a hot chocolates and brandies at the end of a days skiing and you'll soon start to enjoy yourself.

No it doesn't. i didn't want to go for months before i got on the plane. But i had the most fantastic week. Pamporovo is the best resort there. It's so cheap and the conditions are fab. March is the best time to go. Wink

re: Ungrateful....

We had been to france years ago before going to borovets 2 years ago,and are just about to go back for the 3rd time.Bulgaria is a great place with really friendly people. The food isn't great but at least you dont put on loads of weight!!! and there is none of the snobbery we experienced in france. There isnt vast numbers of runs but plenty of great places to stop for a drink or 9!The hot chocolate with brandy at Georges is the best i've ever had! Enjoy it.
