I. Holders of valid ordinary passports from the following countries do not need a visa to visit Bulgaria for a maximum of 90 days within each period of six months:

Austria, Belgium, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Korea, San Marino, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

II. Holders of valid ordinary passports from the following countries do not need a visa to visit Bulgaria for a maximum of 30 days within each period of six months:

Andorra, Australia, Canada, Estonia, the Republic of Ireland, Israel, Macedonia, Monaco, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Serbia and Montenegro, UK, USA and the Vatican.

In my mind this states that you only need 3 months left on your passport, NOT 6.

Am I correct?

re: Visa 3 or 6 months?

Guy, i think its 6 months!

Passport Requirements
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of return from your trip. It cannot be damaged and any alterations/extensions must be endorsed by the Home Office or relevant Embassy. Your pasport must have minimum two blank facing pages for visa stickers / stamps

I think the nearest Passport office is Peterborough! Confused

re: Visa 3 or 6 months?

Guy I called the Bulgarian Embassy regarding this issue, they told me that I required 3 months left on my passport from the date that I am due to return to the UK.

Travel agents always recommend 6months to be on the safe side when travelling outside the EU.

Hope that this helps, I'm travelling to Pamps on the 7th of Jan with only 3 months left remaining on my passport - so I'm stuffed if the Embassy got it wrong!!!

re: Visa 3 or 6 months?

We did the same and phoned the Bulgarian embassy as sons only had five months left and we were worried, they told us that their requirement was 3 months or more upon your return
