So here we go guys, the first of many weekly reviews looking back over this week, and looking forward to next.

Plus a bit of fun and leg-pulling

If I mention your name, PLEASE don't be offended as the fun bit is very light hearted and not to be taken too seriously.

FIRSTLY THE SNOW CONDITIONS.

Well, there is little point in me breaking it down resort by resort as the entire sking areas throughout Bulgaria are covered in the best snow of the season. In fact this week has seen almost too much snow but this is now relenting and this coming week promises to be the best weeks skiing this year. Depth are in excess of 200cm everywhere, and temps are hovering around -5 at night to +5 during the day.

Clear skies are forecast for most of next week. All slopes are being well prepared and groomed in all resorts and wind is generally light which does away with any chill factor.

In short Bulgaria offers conditions as good as anywhere you will find in Europe this week, and better than in many.


CURRENT EXCHANGE RATE OF STERLING AT THIS TIME

The pound sterling is strong at the moment against the Bulgarian Leva

2.8154 Bulgarian Leva (BGN) is equal to 1 UK Pounds.

That is the price being quoted by the Internation Banking Confederation today.

It will vairy from resort to resort and from hotel to hotel, but this should be a rough guide for you.


ISSUES

There have been lots of post recently concerning the theft of equiptment from various resorts. This is something quite new this year and a great disappointment to those who have shared the honesty and good nature of Bulgarian resorts and it's people. Indeed I would not be surprized if this were tourists rather than locals but that's only an opinion.

There has been some good advice posted on here how best to avoid this happening to you. Some have suggested that whenever you leave your skis anywhere, you swap one ski and one pole with another in your party and place them some way apart. Nobody will steal an odd pair so yours should be safe. Another suggestion was to take a small chain and lock with you and secure your skis together onto the ski racks. This can also be done with boards.

Having recently had a family memeber visit Bansko I was wondering whether there are plans to improve the road to Bansko as I hear it is a bit pot holed in places. We plan to visit at the end of the year. I know that seems a long way off but am really looking forward to it

Its an old one but a very good tip for first time skiiers is do not eat the yellow snow

A man walks into a drug store with his 8-year old son. They happen to walk by the condom display, and the boy asks,"What are these,Dad?
