Pete. Seen your report on Walkie Talkies and have been looking into them. There appears to be 2 types. FRS that is limited to 1/2 Watt output and probably 2KM and GMRS that can go up to 5 Watts. 2 Watts seems to get you up to 7 miles. BUT - you may need a licence for GMRS radios. The ones we all use are PMR446 (personal mobile radio 446Mhz), they are 500Mw (half a watt), and have a range of about 3Km.

Also ask the Seller if the Ad does not state PMR446. If you receive no reply (or an evasive one), then beware.

Fantastic detail thanks. So - if you want to go up to 5 miles you need more that 1/2 watt output and therefore will presumably be using GMRS frquencies. In the UK at least you will need a licence for this. What about Bulgaria?re: Walkie talkie licence - Pete
