Washing ski jackets

Question from the wife....instructions on ski jacket says not to use detergents and only pure soap, any suggestion on how to wash ski jackets/sallopettes? Most of our stuff is dare2be.

i washed mine normally in the washing machine, perfect result do not tumbe dry though.

You can try the NikWax products available from places like Blacks.

I agree with Di about the general wash, but the NikWax will waterproof as well.

Do NOT even think about Dry Cleaning...

If you want the correct way you should get the stuff from snow and rock or any camping/outdoors shop, if you wash it normally you lose some of the waterproofness (I think its waterproofness), if you have already washed them normally you can still use the special stuff but it needs two washes in it to regain the original condition (thats what snow and rock told me anyway)
costs about £3.50 for quite a large bottle.

I wash ours on a 30 degree cycle with normal detergent but no fabric softener, then hang them up to dry naturally.

Make sure you get the NikWax or similar.

No point having a nice clean jacket which is no longer waterproof

Lux flakes are pure soap and can be bought in the supermarket.

Be careful how much you use as they froth up most impressively!
