Well,
I have been back in the UK 4 days now, and I am missing Borovets already!
A party of 8 of us travelled from Manchester, stopping in the Iglika Palace (in the 3* rooms). We found the rooms good enough for what we wanted, however, we found the food to be very poor. The breakfast was edable but most evenings we prefered to eat out because the food was of a very limited choice and often tasteless with little/no meat in! The restaurent we found ourselves in most of the time at base level was The Snow Inn, which is the last place on the right handside of the hill before getting to the Rila slope. We only ate up at the top of the Gondola on two days, and we regret the first day eating at the Yastabets Cafe (i think?). Our second day we ate at The White House and it was great! PROPER CHICKEN!! Not the reform breaded stuff that other places in the resort sold, and the pizzas from here were also fab!
Skiing-
We were a mix of Snowboards/skiers and snowbladers, and we all had fun! The snow conditions werent excellent but we still manage to do the open runs aswell as the Massula Pathway and FonFon to name a couple (cant remember the other names) that were closed but still skiable. We got our equipment from the BoroSport Rila 2 depot, and it was poor to say the least. Chunks missing out of boards, broken bindings and boots that have worn through, we werent impressed.
There looks to be a good place to rent gear from where you catch the Gondola, this is where id get my skis from as the ones I had this year were pretty dire.
All in all, my group had a great holiday! It was good to meet a couple of people off here, even if it was only brief!
I would go back to Boro, id rent gear from elsewhere and probably go later in the season when tehy have more snow!
I hope this has helped people who may be travelling this year to Boro, you will definately enjoy it! I would encourage this as a resort for people to go to
Hmmmmm getting so many bad reports about Borosports ski hire and the conditon of it. I must say when I hired when in Borovets the gear was bad then!!!! Are they still using the same stuff or have they bought any new in the last 4-5years?????
I have also stopped at the Iglika and agree that the food was not brilliant!!! breakfast ok but evening meals were not good we ate out also. However the rooms were ok for what we wanted and for the price we paid. And a good position really too....
