What a day...

Up at 06.30am, snowing in town, maybe 15cm... Bus started, warmed up, picked up returning party and headed off to Sofia...
Predal was a blizzard, wet very slippery snow, crawled along with poor visibility, hoped it would clear towards valley, it didn't.. snow continued, got sideways (i mean really sideways) on a straight where i caught the opposite tracks with my rear wheels, fortunately the guys were asleep, murmuring something about `are we ok ?'... Pressed on only to come to an accident ...

Pressed on only to come to an accident outside Blagoevgrad, half an hour then diverted into the back lanes Confused
Slippy slidey eventually coming back to main road.. phone call, my mate had been hit from behind near to Dupnitsa, with passengers in the bus, mercy dash to pick up extra passengers, and push on to Sofia, eventually getting there in just over 4 hours, the extra passengers i picked up missing there check-in by a couple of minutes (what are Easyjet like ???) my guys making it fortunately (our unblemished record continuing)...
Return journey uneventful until we near Bansko, 4 wheel drive attempts overtaking move on the snow (they are bulletproof you know) looses it, forces overtaken car into a drift, and an approaching car off the road on the other side, 4 wheel drive regains control, and drives off (well, it was a Romanian Mad)
Held up as one car is pulled back onto the road, and the other is extracted by just muscle... Into Bansko to drop passengers, and back home Very Happy Ah well, lets do it all again tomorrow Wink

Jeepers, you will need a stiff drink, snow driving is horrible but hey I guess you will be back up the mountain soon and forget these testing drives. Good luck tomorrow Very Happy

re: What a day...

Roads are ok at the minute Steve Gee. But if it snows overnight who knows.

Make sure they have given you snow tyres!! Our friend was told he had snow tyres they were not and it is law in the mountain to have snow tyres on and chains in the boot.
