Afer a good snowfall in march, we return mid may to borovets more for walking and visiting the surroundings with friends,...can anyone tell witch bars/restaurants are still open after the winter season?
I ve read the gondola is open for walking? And maybe some activities for children?
Thanx in advance
Geert from Belgium
Hi Geert...
Not a lot im afraid, im not even sure about the gondola...
Have been over a few times in the summer and it is very quiet, i think the steak house was open by the Rila, and a couple more... but your best bet is to drop down to Samokov, still very lively, and to my mind a much better selection of bars and restaurants...
As for activities for the kids, perhaps again Samokov, but maybe someone living locally may have a better idea...
May is pretty quiet in Borovets. The gondola doesn't open until mid June usually. You can still go walking of course but you have to start from resort level rather than taking the gondola to the top. things to do including walking of course, hikes, mountain biking, quad biking, trips to Rila monestary, Plovdiv, Sofia or further away places like Koprivitishta. there are always a few restaurants open in Borovets. Venice and the green king being 2 of the better. Samokov town has a much better ...

I haven't been in May but lots of times in July and August and pretty much all the restaurants are open and all the hotels.
The shopping stalls are open then too.
At the weekends the chair lift and gondola are open.
All the hotel pools are open to non residents. The lake Iska has a beach area with restaurants and boat hire etc and near by there are several open air mineral pools.
