I posted after my last visit to Bansko in February how much i thought the resort had come, having visited Bansko at least once every winter for the last 4 years.
Many more bars, supermarkets and finished complex's make it look and feel like it is taking shape.
However the biggest issue seems to be the roads, paths, street lighting (which i know has happened now on many of the roads) and general landscape. A lack of refuse collections etc also doesn't help.

Does anyone who lives there know if there is a plan of attack by the local municipality to actually resolve some of these issues????
They do seem to be doing the streets (lighting/paving/road surfacing/gas/electric under ground in the correct way get it all done in one go rather than as per UK do the road then dig i up to put in different services.
Outside of Bansko (Outside Sofia to Bansko) Road improvements have been very drastic over the last few years a huge improvement - last time I went the only issue was Sofia itself then that ring road would be complete and a much quicker trip to Bansko (well maybe 10 -15 mins ...

I'm looking forward to going out there for a week or 2 in the summer Aug beer Jazz festival. Really going there for a total relax & enjoy being cut off from the rest of the world (i.e. no English papers available which I find really enjoyable - the world keeps on going no matter what happens).
Might try to walk up the mountain to do the 7 lake walk. Or then again hang around the Pirin Golf Country club reading a few books round o 2 of golf enjoy outdoor pools & probably take quite a few DVD films for the evenings - or then again just a nice bottle or 2 on the balcony with my amazing wife.
Is the Golf course open to non owners??? Are all 18 holes open yet? If so any ideas on a cost of a round?
I hope the streets, paths and general landscape is improved during teh course of this year - it will all add to the feel good factor - which in my humble opinion is starting to come slowly to the place. The reviews and reports back on this discussion board have been more positive than negative.
