Have just come back from Pamps a little disappointed by the snow conditions and bad instructor (see review of Pamps by JW - I was in his group).
We booked for Bansko for next Feb half term before we went but are now panicking because we are taking 8 other people/children with us who are first time skiiers and we are worried about a) the queues and b) the quality of instruction. Can anyone throw some light on this - currently considering changing our booking!!
On the skidvd forum, method snow school come highly recommended for Bansko (a very helpful english company) they can organise your hire equipment as well and they bring it to your hotel the night before.
the ques are bad at the gondla and being half term it will be busier, tip is to get there early and then either ski from around 8.30 or grab a coffee in one of the cafes and wait until later just beter than getting crushed especially if you have young children with you.
We were in Bansko this half term. We hired Skis etc from Banskosport, 5 minutes walk ( in ski boots!) from the gondola. It opens just before 8am, which means you can collect your skis and get to the gondola before the queues build up. The Ulen ski hire at the gondola doesnt open till 8.30, and that half an hour made all the difference. They also did lessons, either individual, groups of 2 and 3 or 4-8.Five of us were beginners and by day 3 we were ski-ing the blue run from the top of the ...

I would deffinately use them again.
Get an english speaking instructor... i was there last week and my group was very mixed boarders/skiers - experienced/beginners... the instructor for the beginner skiers was completely uninterested and it took until the wednesday before he told the group his name!! (George by the way)!! the intermediate wasnt bad - but prefered talking to foreign members of the group rather than the english speaking ones.
We were in Ulen ski school in 2 different groups and both instructors were great. Avoided gondola queue by taking skis back to hotel and getting to gondola at 8.15 am. Had great meal out in local mahinas. Yes lots of building but didnt affect us at all - on the slopes all day
really cant understand what all the moaning is about the skiing was brill.
