The locals are definately more friendly.

The cost of enjoyment infinitely more inviting.

Lifts not as modern, nor slopes as extensive as Val d'isere, but if you never visit, you will always wonder.

Then again, it depends on the type of hotel and/or apres ski you're looking for.

However, I'm sure you will enjoy your New Year in Borovets.

All the best.

The skiing is not worth comparing, especially with Val Thorens and Val d' Isere - these are exceptional resorts and compare with anything worldwide.

However, saying that we've skied them both and subsequently visited Borovets, where we now own a ski chalet and an apartment plus two other apartments in Bansko, so it can't be that bad eh?

The locals are very friendly and the value for money aspect leaves France floundering in it's wake. The local dishes are comparable with some of the country style offerings in France, as is the red wine but at prices to die for.

If you come with an open mind, you'll have a great time - enjoy.
