HI just called my bank and due to an Import / Export laws they do not stock levs.... Can any other Irish people who have done to Bulgaria give advice on best way for money... I know lots of people commented on this but ist always in Sterling or regarding English Banks cards.. Our Irish cards can be bit funny at times!!!
A lot of hotels will change € for Lev. The rate is normally quite good, and you can then change what you need as you go along. The ATM 'should' take your card - not promising, mind!
Jackie, I get my levs from my local credit union, they usually have the most competitive rates.. Give them a couple of days notice. The other option is to change euro at your hotel. The hotels in the resorts offer good rates. Just make sure the bank notes are in good nick.
Jackie, I got some Lev's from Bank of Ireland last year they just ordered them in, alternatively as Zod says arrange them through you're credit union. I used my Laser card there once I ran out of Levs and had no problem, other than the machine was out of service for a couple of days, (think they only fill them a couple of times a week). Bring Euro and change in you're hotel. Only change on a needs only basis if you're stuck with too many levs going home it will be hard to get rid of ...

We tried to get duty free on the plane and they would only accept Euro!
