Where to go???

Hi I am trying to organise a holiday for Jan 2009 for 10/15 people. We just got back from Andorra (Soldeu) and had a blast there and we are ready to book our next adventure. After getting stung in Andorra with the crazy prices for beer, cheap beer is our number one priority for the next trip as well as lots of snow of course.

Bulgaria has come up tops for our 2 main criteria but now the problem comes in choosing a resort. We've narrowed it down to Bansko or Borovets so which is the more the better place. I had decided on Bansko but Borovets seems to be pretty good too but after reading a couple of threads on here about the prices in bars a restuarants flying up this year then I'm wondering if next year Bulgaria will still be good value for money.
Is Bansko still cheap or has the same thing happened there that happened in Borovets with the price increases?

Hi Cameron,
Have been to Borovets for the last 2 years and have booked to back next Jan.
It's a fantastic place.
Yes the prices have gone up a little, but we were still only paying £1.18 a pint in the hotel bar! Booze
Still good value to me.

Whats Boro like? I was put off from it when I looked at the piste map and it seemed a bit all over the place it didn't really give a good impression of the place. It also looked like it had a lot of drag lifts and as we are all snowboarders we hate drag lifts lol. Bansko seemed to have a more modern lift system and was more snowboarder friendly so thats why we favoured it over Boro, but I'm still not keen on the 20 min gondola ride that you have to take in Bansko to get up the mountain which ...

What is the off piste potential like at both resorts as we all love the nice powder runs so that will probably be a deciding factor as well as cheap beer Booze

re: Where to go???

Don't worry about the gondola in bansko it's a one way trip, having the ski road to come home on at the end of the day. The park might amuse you, fingers crossed it's better than last year, Burton tour there next weekish so should put it on the map, we are 2 snowboarders heading out in March, only been to Bansko, prices seem ok Not sure about the off piste as conditions weren't good enough last year, plenty of between the trees and some serious cliff jumping to be had. it is snowboarder ...

We choose Bansko and find it pleasantly enjoyable. Very Happy
