Where to stay in bansko

Can anyone recommend a good or even very good hotel that is near the gondola and the night life?? Usually go to Borovets where everything is within walking distance. Fancy a change this year so would appreciate any advice. Thanks Very Happy

For Bansko? If so Kempinski Grand Are is about the best on offer, right next to the Gondola. Not cheap, but then for 5* luxury not bad either...

Yes Bansko, Friends are thinking of the MPM Grand or MPM Guiness. Any thoughts on these hotels??

That should be the MPM Sport and Guiness, not grand!! Appreciate any suggestions for hotels anyone has stayed in and can give an honest opinion!

As an ex rep for Thomson, I will only stay in the hotel Tanne! It's quiet and very relaxing after a hards day skiing, it's close to the night life and only a few mins walk to the gondola, just think that it's always good to warm up, so a little walk is worth it, yes the kempinski is very nice too, I have a mate who works there so you would be well looked after if you want to spend twice as much, honestly the Tanne is the best in Bansko, not far from everything you want to do, I go every ...

I'd go for an apartment if I were you, check out this map

http://www.banskomaps.com/MapOfBansko.pdf

pick the area you want to be in then get on Holiday Lettings or Owners direct and find somewhere that way. You save a packet if you go DIY as well and you get to experience more of Bansko in the evenings eating out instead being stuck in the same hotel restaurant night after night. Don't get me wrong I've stayed in the Perun and Lion in the past and whilst they're ok hotels I'd never go ...

Quite right JimmyP!
However the Tanne are only B&B if you need it, eating out is a stones throw away and if you book with Thomson/Crystal ect ect, then you get everything included so no worry if the transport doesn't collect you and there is always a point of call if you have any issues and not forgetting that it's a great way of meeting new friends, also this site is used by people who have property/business's in Bansko so I'm not saying they do! But some may be promoting them selves ...
