Where to stay?

Hi

Myself and my partner are looking to book a snowboarding holiday to Borovets in mid March. We are meeting up with a group of friends but are not sure where to stay. We quite like the look of the Hotel Lion since it is out of the way and possibly quieter than hotels in the centre (we are not looking for a party holiday). However, the Hotel Lion works out at £200-300 more expensive than the likes of the Iglika, Rila, Samokov. Is it worth this much more?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

re: Where to stay?

have stayed at all three in the past and found they were all ok-you could ask for a back room at the Rila or a higher room at Samakov and Rila-the Lion is quite a hike out of the resort and with your ski etc you would need to use the mini bus wheras with the Rila and Samakov it is very easy to return to room at lunch time and then go back up the mountain-Samokov is opposite the gondola lift and Rila opposite the other side-still not far to walk fron Rila to Gondola. I last syayed in the Alpin which is on the slopes opposite the Rila and wasn't disturbed from the noise-I personally like the ski in/out and ask for back room-Hazel

re: Where to stay?

Agreed. It's so much easier to stay at the ski in ski out hotels in the resort. Just ask for a back room at Rila (I stayed there last month) or a back room at Samakov (I stayed there over Xmas) and it's idea. I'm staying at the Flora next week as it's the most modern in the resort and that's next to the gondaler but off the main party drag.
My mate is staying at Lion this week coming and u will have to take a minibus up the hill and will be a bit of a pain.
I know you don't want a party ...

I know you don't want a party holiday, but the atmosphere is great in the resort and so many places to eat and relax in the evenings.
Have a great time wherever you decide. And make sure you visit the White house for lunch! It's at the top of the gondola

re: Where to stay?

Hi there,

We stayed at the Festa Chamkoria which was down past the Lion. The shuttle buses were useful and we actually walked back one day (without ski's etc) and it took us half hour and that was at a stroll and the taxi's weren't bad at between 10 and 15lev
