Just got back from our 3rd year in Pamps and had a really great time yet again. There is Soooo much development going on in resort and no new runs being developed that we are thinking of going to another resort next year, but which one?? Bansko or Borovets. Don't know much about either 'cos we have always gone to Pamps.
Also which hotel to choose. We have stayed in the Finlandia and Belmont over the 3 years we have been to Pamps. We don't like it too smokey or loud (youngster in tow!) so ...

Also which hotel to choose. We have stayed in the Finlandia and Belmont over the 3 years we have been to Pamps. We don't like it too smokey or loud (youngster in tow!) so want to stay away from anywhere that is likely to operate a very late night disco/karaoke/bar if possible.
We went to Pamps 2 years ago and this year went to Borovets (best decision we made) - there is so much more variety of ski runs.
We stayed in the Hotel Bor (which is a 10 min walk or a few minutes taxi from slopes) (very quiet location). We found the hotel a bit smoky however we did note that no-one smoked in the dining room - which was a surprise for Bulgaria.

There is a bar at the hotel but only very small and not particularly lively as everyone tends to go to the bars near the slopes. Overall we had a great holiday and would thoroughly recommend Borovets and the Hotel Bor.
borovets . . .small hotels . . not posh or any thing . . .ella, mura, close to slopes, good bars friendly but not posh , , , iglika has had good reviews . . .borovets is top place to go
bansko is pretty much the same loads of development and no increase in slopes or new gondla to get you up never been to borovets so cant comment. bansko ski srea is very good though but seems to have been problems this year from reading posts and yo be honest if you want to miss the ques need to be at gondla by 8.30 depends how old the kids are. on saying that the night life is very low key mainly mehenas and small bars so would possibly suit you better thats why we liked it.
Came back from Borovets on Sunday...superb!!
Skiing was great and instruction first class. My partner was in beginners and had a great instructor (well done Crassy) and Vlodi had me all over the mountain trying to get me to perfect carving turns!!
Hotels in the town are good for families also (Rila; Flora and Iglika are best). We stayed at the Olymp...food was good, the hotel quiet but the room was very basic..seems they are renovating!
