White Wine

Hi,Nicks other half here. Can anyone tell me if you can get a nice glass of white wine and is it better to buy by the botle as in this country. I've heard alot about the Red wines of Bulgaria but am more of a White wine drinker myself. Prices to please if poss.

When I was in Bulgaria (beach, not been to the mountains before) wine was available in any kind you wanted, to suit all tastes - we got rather partial to a champagne like substance...Prices varied but round about 2-3 quid a bottle if I remember rightly. (I drank a lot so brain addled and cared not about prices!).
Through reading this board I'm quite convinced the bars, cafes n'wot not are akin to those in beach resorts, if not friendlier!

Yep white wine a plenty and just as good as the reds in my book. vey cheap prices by the bottle or glass.re: White Wine
we found one with a blue label, with 'Chardonnay' in gold lettering. Bottle had a spiral type moulding to it (you'll know what I mean when you see it). If i remember it came from Targovishte (apologies to any Bulgarians for the spelling, I had quite a lot of it by the time I read the label).It was 15 Lev per bottle in the Samokov restaurant and 7 Lev in the supermarket across the road. (Proably 3 Lev in Samokov town ).

My mum said that in Pamps they weren't very good at serving white wine cold. Aparently they didn't understand that someone would want a cold drink in the middle of winter.Diz

look out for 'donkey milk', well thats what they translate it as

yes it was a wine for the former east german market the same as with bears blood, or something like this.
So now to the modern times and modern bulgarian white wines Nick, there are some good vineries makes great white wine, f.e.
