Hi All - Been monitoring the lifts, weather, etc towards my trip on March 7th to Boro. I noticed that a fair part of the lifts and runs seem to be closed today... According to the link below. Anyone knows why?
re: Why are so many of the lifts closed today? (Boro)
Boro is prone to high winds because the gondola is designed 30years ago and positioned on the wrong place over exposed ridges and catching when they come.
Luckily this season only there are 2 other areas to ski.
If tomorrow is windy its going to be undesirable queues elsewhere because of the weekenders from Sofia arriving for their fix.only few more left now.
re: Why are so many of the lifts closed today? (Boro)
is it true they are replacing the gondola at the end of this season for a more stable design due to the winds or is this another famous borovets rumour?

Rumour I am afraid.
Things have to be broken in smaller pieces( not one monopol on the whole ski area ski runs and some hotels) in Borovets (you know what I mean) before there is an interes to change something in there.
It was mentionned by the FIS president last week direct to the parties involved that Borovets and Vitosha should be the high priority for complete redeveloping of the ski areas because it is viable. And that was understood (BG president PM etc)
I guess something will get ...
