There are a very limited number of cannons in Pamporovo and what cannons are there are only there to top up the snow in places when the snow thins the quickest. There simply is not sufficent cannons to produce enough snow to cover 1 run - let alone a whole mountain. So to turn them on now 24/7 would make absolutely no difference whatsoever.Pete

True Pete but surely the cannons, although limited could start working towards topping up the base that is there? Now would seem to be the perfect opportunity with temps now having dropped - what with peak season being days away.You'd expect they'd be doing everything in their power to at least ensure they have some runs open for beginners at least.
I'm not saying runs won't be open -I think they will be but common sense would be to do as much as possible to ensure this.

Ideal World stuff unfortunately FN. The cannons are quite expensive to run and with freeze thaw - rain snow conditions at the moment it would be a waste of time and money to run them. You can count the number of cannons in Pamporovo on your fingers. To supply enough snow to open just 1 run would require dozens more which they simply do not have.

I am sure a decent fall is very close now, but I never have been and never will be guided by these forecasts as they simply are not acurate nor are they based on any sound reason.
They are as I say - spoof forecasts to prevent cancelations.

A whole load of new snowmaking equipment was installed last year from midstation to the bottom of the green run , they didnt get used last due to problems with the lake that fed them, but it has been resolved now.

So is it a case of even with these new cannons there's still not enough to top up one run
