Wondering about Safety in Bansko

Hi everyone...

I was just wondering of people who have been to the snow resort, what do you think about the safety in Bansko.
Me and my mates were planning to drive to Bansko in Christmas but then the person that owns the car hesitated because of all the rumours around Bulgaria and that the car might get stolen or something.
How does the place feel regarding safety? Are there any parking facilities for an even safer option?
