Wrist guards?

I've heard from a lot of people that when beginning to snowboard it will hurt your wrists. Having skateboarded and rollerbladed before I know the consequences of falling down onto your hands Mad Crying

I saw in a magazine that there are wrist guards available... do people wear these and do they fit easily under the gloves? Confused

Cheers in advance.

p.s. great forum & site btw. Wink

re: Wrist guards?

I skateboarded and snowboarded too. If you know how to fall off your skateboard onto concerete or off the lip of a ramp onto the flat without wrist guards you will be fine. Aim for the shoulder. Just make sure your gloves are water proof and warm. You should be able to pick it up snowboarding in half a day and then be fine.

As for goggles, orange tints are good in a blizzard else sunglasses for posing

Hey there,

As a beginner you will be spending a lot of time on your ass as well! It is all too easy to really hurt your wrists especially if the snow is really firm - when on your toe edge try to fall on to your knees and when on your heal side try as much as possible to sit down before putting your hands down.

I have been snowboarding for a few years now and would still recommend wearing wrist guards. I have dakine wristguards which are nice and snug and fit easily under gloves. You ...

I have been snowboarding for a few years now and would still recommend wearing wrist guards. I have dakine wristguards which are nice and snug and fit easily under gloves. You can also get gloves that already have wrist protectors in them.

You can generally get them in most skateboard and snowboard shops as well as online - try extremepie.com

Have a great time Very Happy Very Happy

Oh, and if you fall at speed try and lift your board at least 6 inches off the ground else you will keep catching the edge and flip over and over lengthways

re: Wrist guards?

Cheers for the advice. Just gotta remember it in 8 weeks time when I go Cool

I always knackered my wrists skateboarding so stuck to using wrist guards. Think I will look for some to be on the safe side. Nothing worse than a limp wrist Very Happy.

Probably get some padded pants too Wink

re: Wrist guards?

Lots of press ups and lots of sit ups before you go! Those are the actions you will be doing to get back up depending on which way round you lie in the snow. Its a hard life
