Have just got back from Xmas in Borovets and read some of the comments- felt i had to post a comment. Had a brill time in a party of 8 - its what you make it. Dont be a miserable whinging brit in a foreign country - just relax and enjoy the different experience. Lots of lovely restaurants - try something other than burgers and hot dogs... although food at the Iglika Palace was so good our meal at a restaurant was not as good. Skiing great for beginners/intermediates. Just an all round great holiday. We have SO much over here in the West - we dont appreciate how lucky we are!!! Would definitely go again.

Just back from Borovets, we had the time of our lives!
The hotel Rila was superb, the Kindergarten was very good and the staff were kind and friendly. The food was delicious, skiing great and the instructors the best fun ever. I highly reccomend Borovets and the Rila but DON'T TRAVEL WITH BALKAN HOLIDAYS!!! The rep is invisible and when you do locate here she either runs or stays to be rude, you will be treated like cattle, abandoned at any airport they choose, starved, ignored and tortured!! No joke, yesterdays ordeal was shocking as we were dumped at Stanstead UK on route to Birmingham.
Balkan Holidays are a joke and I think the whole plane full of passengers will agree and NEVER use them again. (moan over)

We had NO problem with the food at the Iglika - it was plentiful, varied and delicious. They have loads of salads available at all times as well as 2 or 3 other hot choices - we were going back for 3rds and 4ths. The cooked breakfast buffets were particularly good before a long days skiing.... Even the children were trying new things and enjoying them. Balkan rep was invisible - but we managed without him/her. Too busy skiing to go on any day trips. In our party of 8 - the twin rooms and one double were absolutely fine, but one double (room 420) was very small and basic. Again, what the hell? - too busy skiing to worry! Take flip flops or slippers if you want to go to the swimming pool or you wont be allowed in. Ski school was brilliant - groups of up to 10 at the start of the week dwindling to 5ish by the end. All in all - definitely value for money - dont go expecting Austria/Switzerland facilities and just have a great time. Hope it snows again soon!
