re: Xmas in New Year

this is an el nino year, which is why the weather is all to pot. Normally the snow arrives between Xmas and New Year. The best time is early january but the disadvantage is that this is Orthodox Xmas and new year, so most places are packed with Russians and Serbs. Go late January for the best snow, mid March for the nicest weather

re: Xmas in New Year

its a gamble because of the lack of snow this year... but you do get more discount if you book early, I expect a lot of people who were there same time this year will hang on (including me) and hope for last minutes... I had a great time in Bansko at Christmas as there are more snow cannons and its higher up so a little more snow than pamps, but pamps was bad at New Year it was not really skiable. Friends were in Boro at New Year and they loved it.

re: Xmas in New Year

If you know you can still have a great time with little snow then book it, its still a holiday Very Happy and I think this years snow problems are not going to repeat again - but you never know... I paid £1000 for two weeks this year and even with lack of snow still had a great time

re: Xmas in New Year

We have just booked for Feb 2nd 2008, group of 14 staying at the Rila and got the price down to £448 per person inc full ski packs with Thomson. Went over Xmas this season and had a ball even with a lot of the runs closed due to the lack of snow

re: Xmas in New Year

I was in BORO over the last new year and the snow wasn't that bad, not anywhere near as bad as what people say. We skiied every bad but new year.
New years eve was fantastic, fireworks etc eveywhere it was crazy!
I wanna go back every new year regardless of the snow reports.
I have 2 friends who have lived near borovets all there lives and they both agree that March has always been the best month to visit.
