Well after a bit of 'umming' and 'aahing' I finally took the plunge and went for a skiing lesson as Xscape-Castleford this morning. When I squashed my feet into the ski boots and trecked through to the slopes, I thought 'why am I putting myself through this? as this is hard work, doesn't seem enjoyable to me. Anyway, once the ski's were on my trotters and I was adjusting to plodding around I was starting to get a feel for it. Th Instructor was great and before we knew it we were skiing ...

Th Instructor was great and before we knew it we were skiing down the slope. I managed to get the technique and balance pretty quickly, and was surprised that I never hit the deck! I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it and I have now been passed for level 2.
Originally, I thought that I would just go for one lesson to be familiar with the equipment before going to Boro. Now I have the bug, I want to try and get to level 4 before I go. I would certainly say to anyone that has never been skiing, it's well worth it, just to be familiar with wearing the boots and ski's, and be ahead of the game on arrival in your resort.
I'm sure I won't be able to walk tomorrow, but I would rather experience the pain before I go and get used to it, rather than suffer the week I'm there. Just looking forward to the 'pre' and 'apres' ski now....
ps: also met some really nice people in the same situation, so we all managed to have a giggle....
Off to Borovets 27Feb-6March, staying at the Rila. It certainly does blow the cobwebs away. I came out feel really energised, so energised that I headed staright for Glasshoughton Designer outlet (next door) and did some major retail therapy! As a treat I had a cappuccino in Thornton's coffee shop with chocolate flakes on the top. I just needed a hip flask with brandy to finish it off (hic, hic). Anyway if you do decide to go let us know how you got on......
Sounds great!!! There are 3 of us going tomorrow Tuesday for 2 hours, we are all expierienced skiers but getting ready for the big one on 5th March. there is also 14 of us going on Saturday 22nd for mty birthday at 3pm Cant wait now!!!
There is 49 of us to going to Boro in march from JJB in Oldham
I went to Xscape in Milton Keynes - did a level 2 lesson which is beginning to teach you how to do a snowplough turn - even though I told them I could snowplough turn - they recommended level 2 - by the end of the lesson, I'd learnt nothing. The instructor recommended I repeat level 2.
Went over to the dry slopes in Hemel Hempsted - they recommended level 4. One lesson at level 4, yesterday did level 5 and am ready for level 6.
Be very careful with Xscape - they seem to like you ...

Be very careful with Xscape - they seem to like you repeating lessons - good way of raking in the money.
