We are staying at yagoda village for the duratoin of the holiday it looks nice on the website but it is quite far away from the slopes by the looks of it, can anyone tell me if there is good transport between there and the slopes and what time do they run till and are the taxi's reliable or will they try to shaft us?re: Yagoda Village

WE stayed in Yagoda last year and loved the location its self but hated the fact that we were a bit isolated, the busses run about once every hour between 8 and 4 i think it was then there is the annoying bus that takes instructors and leaves skiiers behind to either get a taxi or freeze!! There are busses again later for going out on a night but we preferred to pick up a taxi most of the time as they are more reliable and at only 10 lev (£3ish) not too badly priced. Do not expect ...

Do not expect much of the cabins though, they are warm, clean and decent enough but do not compare to the hotels! The kitchen facilities are very basic so do not expect to do any cooking in there, it so cheap to eat out though this isnt really too much of an issue. we enjoyed our holiday there but much prefer to be closer in resort. Hope this helps.

Thanks Pie,it is a great help, as for the cooking thing, i think the only cooking we will be doing is warming the milk for a chocolate brandy as a night-cap. i am really looking forward to going now and i think i will be looking closer to the slopes next time if we return there again next year but this was a cheap deal and we had to take what we were given but i'm sure it will be ok.

hi,were staying at the yagoda village at the end of the month,
its nice to read some honest coments. like you we went for price due to the fact we've never been before so did'nt wont to spend thounsands like some of the other resorts.
we wont be cooking, or sould i say i wont be cooking just think we'll get taxi

The buses run every 15 mins approx in the mornings, certainly half term week anyway. The evening return was a pain as the busses take the workers back to Samokov at 4.30 so we missed it everyday. We took the taxi which for past 2 years is 10 lev.
It is walkable but I wouldn't do it with children.
Lodges are very, if not too warm. Shower hot. As Pie said don't go expecting to self cater. The supermarket isn't equipped either. Just about managed to do breakkie and supper for the ...

We satyed in town last year which is certainly better for apres ski. The menu at the Yagoda was good if you aren't half board. We ate in once and had a lovely meal but it was freshly cooked to order and not from the buffet.
