could some kind person explain to me what the weather needs to be like for it to snow? Im hooked at looking at weather reports for cloud cover, freezing levels, wind speeds but have little idea what the exact conditions need to be for that magical white stuff to appear, am i the only one who can't interpret weather maps?
Rob, the basic ingredients are low temperatures (doesn't have to mega cold), storm(snow) clouds. All of this needs to happen at the same time which usually only happens in the presence of a low pressure system. High pressure systems signal stable atsmospheric conditions and low pressure signals unstable, stormy conditions.
Good point trebor21. Can't believe I missed that one out! Winds from the north come from the arctic which are usually always a good sign for favourable conditions.
alan, it's not that the winds will necessarilly reach Bulgaria, but they will have a massive influence in forcing any LP pressure systems towards or over Bulgaria that will herald very favourable conditions.
