I am due to travel to boro for the 1st time 12th march and can't wait. I have heard mixed reviews but I am after budget skiing with good night scene and people up for a laugh...Boro seems to fit the bill perfectly! Anyway both me and my girlfriend are beginners and I was wondering if anyone had any pearls of wisdom for a first time visit to Borovets.
Cheers!
We have booked independently but i'm not to worried about that since I have done it a few times anyway (although not with a skiing hol) I'm still kind of hoping everything runs smoothly but if not it will still be a laugh!
Sean There's so much info on here, have a read through some of the threads.
Where are you staying?
I think the main points are to change money in banks only, check prices of restaurants/bars before ordering as some charge more than others especially up on the top, negotiate a price before using taxis, take great care in the Buzz Bar and HAVE A GREAT TIME
Any specific questions, just ask, someone should know the answer
Hi Borogirl,
Cheers for the info, I have had a good read through here over the past few days, it's been really helpful! I was just hoping to try and get all the info in one place! lazy i know! Im staying at the rila and can't wait to go!
You get your lift passes at the main Gondola station, op the Samokov Hotel.
Ski hire is good from the ELA Hotel, they hire Rossingnol skis and boots, price was about 120lv
Lessons, hire a private instructor for the 2 of you for the week should be about £250 or check our ski school in the Samokov hotel its ment to be one of the best.
Always set the price for everything first !!!!
Taxi from Sofia to Borovets is about 80-90 lv
Enjoy yourself.
4 of us mid 20's girls going to Borovets for first time, staying at The Lion which again as most places has really mixed reviews! Woried about food that will be awaful as seems most brits are complaining about it! We want to go out 3/4 nights drinking out of the week we are there, have heard now to steer clear of Buzz Bar? Although we can all 'handle' ourselves all quite streetwise if u know what i mean!

We had mid 20's with us at New Year, they had fun in Buzz Bar but said it was a bit doggy later on, they did say the drinks were cheap and the music good. I'm sure you wil be fine and I think they do a happy hour. If not there are loads of other bars on the same road.
