Bulgaria Ski discussion board

Just been reading through the posts on Bansko.
Im just back , had a not to bad holiday - some good points some bad. I was there 2 years ago , had a great time , dont normally go back to a place twice , but had thoughts on buying a place there - well , after the trip I defo wont be buying , not for a while anyway - at least until they get the place sorted out.
Some big Q's in the mornings , seemingly was worse the week before , I fear when all these apartments are complete , it will take 1-2 hrs to get to the top. I know there on about a gondola ...... when?
Anyway , the skiing at the top was good , was pi ***sed off they could not open the main red at the top , as it was not getting used for anything - just ment that the other runs were getting cut up and crowded.
My hotel was good , food was poor , and the staff , why look so miserable ? I will be keeping an eye on the posts - i hope the people who can make a diference read these messages , or people will go else where.

Came back from Bansko on Sunday,
Had a good time but was well disappointed with mother nature what happened to the snow, got sun burned first day. I think we were spoilt when we went 2 years ago we had sooo much snow then.
We stayed at the Kempinski would recommend it though not as friendly as hotel bansko 2 years ago.

We got on the plane at Manchester and were allocated Row 31 unfortunately there were only 30 rows.
When we asked the hostess where to sit she just shrugged her shoulders fortunately the plane was half empty until Humberside so we grabbed a seat at Humberside the decided it was row 13.

My brother (snow boarder) took me and my boyfriend Dave to the top of the mountain. We are beginners I had 1 week previous skiing Dave had 4 hours last holiday that’s how long it took for him to tear his cruciate ligament.
It took about 4 hours to get back down the mountain and we arrived at the gondola just as it finished so we had to ski the ski road (that’s where Dave did his knee). We did it this time but my legs were burning for the rest of the week. Glad we did it though for the views and to say we did it.

On the way back the moody cow at x-ray took about 16 rechargeable batteries from us and threw them away said something about a bomb. I know that’s a lot of batteries to carry but our camera wastes them really fast plus the speakers for the MP3, We came from England with them in the same bag and there were 5 of us so we asked if we could share them out but she told us to choose 2 I was well miffed and she knew it. She followed us to the passport desk and shouted something to the woman on the desk so they decided they would mess my Mum about with her British subject passport (she's Irish) she has right to abode stamped in the passport which is what Bulgaria require but they were just trying to P us off.

Hope to be able to afford Canada next ski holiday, but do like the charm of Bansko town and do think that all the building work will kill the skiing especially for beginners the queue for the nursery slope is bad enough already.
