any advice on slovenia

Hi
I have been skiing in pamporovo before and really enjoyed it but fancied trying soemwhere new this year. I quite fancy slovenia, mainly because of the cheap easyjet flights but am finding it difficult to find much info in english. Has anyone been skiing in slovenia or know of a forum similar to this for slovenia as I have always found this site very helpful for info on bulgaria.
Thanks
Lynsey

Slovenia is fantastic, went there March this year.

I have been looking about a bit on other websites and some people had said Lake Bled was a bit limited and you had to get a bus to Vogel, i'm no expert skier but my boyfriend would like a good selection of intermediate runs. I had looked at kransja gora but on virtualtourist.com a lot of people seem to reccommend MARIBORSKO POHORJE, have you heard of it?
Can you advise me roughly how much you paid for ski hire and lift pass as well.

Yes, you do have to go by bus from Bled to Vogel, its about 30mins. There are good intermediate runs there and the scenery etc is beautiful. Ski pass for one day is about £10 with Ski hire about £7 per day. I took my own boots. We just got a cheap easyjet flight and did everthing independantly. Nice hotel in Bled was £25 for room for one night. Not heard of the place you mention. Believe me Slovenia is worth a try.

Hope this helps.

Hi Lynsey...

Stayed in Kranska Gora two years ago, a lovely new hotel with good facilities at the base of the nursury slopes.
Could not really fault the hotel, even the food...
On the down side i found the standard of hire equipment a bit poor, the piste preparation a little lax and access to the rest of the mountain difficult especially for low intermediate. On the down side i found the standard of hire equipment a bit poor, the piste preparation a little lax and access to the rest of the mountain difficult especially for low intermediate. Nightlife took a little finding unless you are heading out after midnight and then seems to attract a lot of locals.. Perhaps i was not looking in the right places. I am not condemming KG, personally i had a ball with an old friend who now works in the ski school and we with his help had some great off-piste days. Unfortunately the party i was with consisted of beginners in ski school and they were limited to the nursury slopes, none of them considered themselves capable of the drop from the new chair which was required in order to access other pistes...
Camp Freddy may be right and Slovenia is worth a try, i am only passing on my experience...
One extra point, it is good value Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
