re: any snow in bansko

Just returned from a week in Bansko, 4 first timers. There was enough snow for us learning the basics on the nursery slopes, although it was beginning to turn a bit icy. The snow cannons were going flat out all the time we were there, but the slopes at Todorka peak were in better condition but again beginning to get a bit icy & rocky in places. As we left (Saturday afternoon) it was clouding over & had got colder, so fingers crossed for you!

Lots of nice eateries - Banski ayduti (apologies for spelling) down a side street on the left off Pirin Street down towards the old town was good - loads of food & nice atmosphere. Also a little bar on right hand side about 150m down from the main traffic lights at the top of Pirin Street - don't know the name of it sorry, but cheap beer. Have a good one.
Happy New Year Smile

Hi,

The forecast for the next couple of days is to be snowing - starting today, so we might get another 40-50 cm. And let the games begin..

All the restaurants we went to were good, bar one where everything was half cold/fully cold/they forgot one of the entrees and one of the mains. We avoided the places with the touts out the front, and looked down the sidestreets.
Had one absolutely AWESOME meal, and am kicking myself for not noting down the name of the place.

Amigos Bar (small bar in main street towards the old town) was rocking later on in the evenings, with some very talented barmen juggling and setting fire to stuff. Sir Galahads was OK for a quieter drink, and pizza. And of course the Happy end for a warmer upper after the gondola ride down the mountain. Went to Amnesia once, we got patted down on entry, and the place had a kind of uncomfortable russian mafia feel to it, so didn'g go back. After much trial and error, we settled on Amigos most nights.
