Prices of Lift Passes Run Double
The concessionaires of ski and chair lifts in the winter resorts of Bulgaria plan to increase the prices of ski lift passes two times, Standart was informed. The higher prices are triggered by the ordinance, regulating equal prices for Bulgarian and foreign tourists, as well as by the high prices of fuels and electricity.
Last year, one-day lift pass in the winter resort of Bansko cost 28 levs and the pass for one month - 118 levs. The prices for foreign tourists were by 40% higher. This year, the one-day lift pass in Bansko will cost 43 levs, plus six levs deposit. The price of one-day pass in the winter resort of Borovets will be the same. Last year, one-day lift pass in Borovets cost 26 levs for adults and 13 levs for children.
The increase in the prices of lift passes will prove negative on the whole season. Many Bulgarian skiers will give up skiing because of the high prices in the winter resorts. The tourists, who come for a ski ride in the winter resorts without a preliminary reservation, will also be driven away.
"Over the past two years there has been an increase in the number of tourists from Macedonia, who visit the winter resorts of Bulgaria. The expensive lift passes, however, will make them prefer the ski resorts in Slovenia," tour operators say.

Seems that it is a little cheaper then if you need to pay in resort. When we were with you guys in Jan, I'm sure we paid 280 lev for a 6 day pass, 6 x 43 = 258 lev.
You would have thought the locals who can afford to ski will not be put off by this increase. You only have to look at the Mercedes, BMWs etc with Sofia number plates. There are a lot of very rich people in Bulgaria!
