Drop down to Samakov (taxi or bus) explore the town, couple of really good restaurants, and some locals (English) bars... Day trip to Sofia, visit museums, shopping (Vitosha boulevard is good), parliament square, numerous bars and restaurants... and maybe Plovdiv, very interesting (more than Sofia), centre is lovely, modern, good nightlife, but with fantastic architecture and history.... Perhaps a 2 day stay there would be better, hotels in the centre, reasonable prices... It is possible to get the train to Plovdiv from Sofia, the train station in Sofia right opposite the bus station...
