Im booking for Bansko next march, my son will be 5 years old. Is it true that when they are in the kids club they are left to their own devices for an hour during lunch.
Can anyone give any info on this and the kids clu? Booking with Balkan.

I would assume that at 5 he would be some form of kindergarten rather than the actual ski school.
The childrens classes at ski school do require for them to fend for themselves to some degree at lunch time (ie make a choice of food, go to the loo so need to be able to stuggle with sallopettes! etc) The instructor does however stay with them.

In a kindergarten the children have more assistance when it comes to dressing and undressing into their ski things and of course they are not outside all day. The adult:child ratio is usually higher as well. They will also be taken to lunch in the hotel where they are based.
We have only been to Borovets and I would personally say that a child of 5 is too young for ski school on his own but would love kindergarten. The ski school in Borovets has an age limit of 7 but it is flexible with 6 year olds especially if they have skiied before.
We went to Borovets this year and he was in kindergarten with Inghams, he really enjoyed it , mainly the bumboarding. I read on this website about the kids getting left for an hour ,which can become a bit of a problem if you are the other side of the mountain and then have to return there to meet up with your group.
Are you the Ellie that is friends with Krassi?
There is an excellent Kindergarten in Bansko booking through Balkan Holidays.
My daughter was there January 2004 and 2005. They play games and stuff in tehhmorning then go to a cafe not far away for lunch while being supervised by the two lady instructors. In the afternoon they do one hours skiing in a controlled area and then do bum-boarding - snowman building, etc. depending on the weather
Drop off starts at 9.30 and I generally picked Lucy up about 3.45/4.00.

The maximum age is 7 for getting in there. If you book early and you have a full ski pack Balkan can put the kindergarten in for free.
Krassi was my instructor in January this year, must say he's the best ski instructor by far. Our group was out with him most nights and he can sure drink {I missed a days skiing due to not feeling good} apparantly the same night he got in at 7 in the morning and the gypsies had to take him home.
It makes your holiday so much nicer when you meet people like Krassi, he was always really helpful and took my little boy for a ski. On the last day he took Pepe out on the skidoos with us.
