after much consideration we went for Bansko over Pamporovo. Does anyone have any recommendations on where the easiest runs are. All can ride well but one of the group is not too keen on steep gradients, does Bankso have some nice Blue type runs?
Also we are staying 3 mins from gondola and its meant to be 10 minutes walk too the old town , any recommendatiosn for places too eat in Bansko.
the gradient at bansko is considerably steep in comparison to the other bulgarian resorts... there is a nice long (7km) blue, easy gradient run which goes from the top of the gondola back down to the bottom; besides that there isn't that much else in terms of a non steep gradient.
Bansko has inproved. All the blues area great, if needed just take your time and enjoy the view. Majority of reds are comfortable again, remove the fear and take your time. Get a map and just study it. Run down the mountain is awesome and nearthe bottom levels out allowing you just talk to each other. As a intestest point on way down you will see some large advertising signs, left side, stop here and walk behind and you will find the secret/hidden bar. 3 large beers and a plate of ...
Hi,
Bansko has inproved. 3 large beers and a plate of cheese/chips £4.50. Would question using toilets only if you are brave.
Eating out is easy, you can book in advance for the Victoria just search net menu and prices shown (Email them). They do get booked up very quickly. Queens is good for food massive pub with large supermarket above it. Eating out is a pleasure, walk and talk and go on recommendation.
Other tip I have was last year change £20's in local bank and got exchange rate of Lev2.30 to £ against Lev 2.08 to £ with Thomas Cook.
Bansko is great, would avoid half trem/ world cup down hill weeks unless you like waiting in line.
Last though was a website which showed you the runs nice videos, when home will send you link if not search youtube as loads to enjoy.
thanks for all the info we are going 17-24th of jan so hopefully that avoids peak weeks, not checked world cup downhill nut if it does clash it will be fun to watch.
Run down looks great, we are all boarders so worried it might be a bit flat in places. I am fine with red runs and have done blacks, it is mainly girlfriend who is looking for something slightly easier so am trying to scope it out for her in advance. If you have some good videos feel free to send them.
Just check out Youtube Bansko 2012 as they had awesome snow, plus can play up top and in the woods. Bansko does have a small fun park at the top, only pain is no dedicated lift.
The ski road is 7km, and is an easy gradiant all the way, blue 1 forms part of a circuit accessed from the new 6man chair from the top of the gondola, blues 6 and 10 are a little more testing but of good length and provide a challenge, both arriving back at Shilligarnika...
Bansko aims to beginners, the lift system being the easiest to use in BG, all modern chairs, the pomas only being used in nursury areas, also with over 220 snow cannons, the snow is virtually guaranteed...
