Looks like quite a bit of the mountain will be shut for half term as the womens super G race is there on 1st march and they take ages to prepare the pistes. Lets hope there is some snow or nothing will be working.
Its a tricky one for ULEN they need the publicity and the FIS Super G gives that vital coverage.
BUT when it is on and for weeks before hand a lot of the mountain is out of action - this can prevent tourists visiting again if it has harmed their holiday plans.
Could they earn more if the whole mountain was open season round v hosting the FIS super G?The other key thing is that this is returning after a years break - there will have been zero changes/improvements. Youd expect lots of ...

Its not most of the mountain closed when these events are on. For you Dave maybe its not so good as you will ski these areas as an experienced skier but for most and alot of people who come to bansko they are only intermediates or below.
Why do people always say half the mountain is closed it isnt!!!!
The nature of Super G is going to involve a run from the top of the mountain, likely will close half the piste through red 3, red 6 and black 9.... The preparation of icing slopes will depend on the weather, very low temps will speed the prep, but i would predict at least 2 weeks running up to the comp... There are some Europa cup events also pencilled in, and Bulgarian national events, whether these will tie up red 7 or 8 is debatable, and the preparation is minimal, so should be no more ...

Lets be positive, if we have good snow the loss of 'Tomba' is not such a bad thing, the black at Challin Valog is more of a test anyway, red 12 should be available and is far more interesting than red 6
