Bansko is more snow sure than Pamps because it is higher. cant advise on where to stay as have only been to Pamps. But more runs and longer than pamps looks a good option but night life is not as good
The runs in general are a bit more demanding than Pamps, some of the reds are very steep. Only one black run. Went there this January after two years in Pamps for a change.
I'd say the skiing was more challenging, but, as Daniel said, the nightlife is quiter - more local tavernas than busy pubs - although there is one nightclub in town - it depends what you want out of the holiday.
We stayed in the Hotel Pirin and we are all going back again this January - no complaints about that one ...

Tom I am sure you will have a great time. I intend to try Bansko in the next couple of years and hope to look foward to a good report from yourself. Thanks as well to Iain
hi, im goin to banskoin feb 05, looking forward to it, iv been to switz, autria, whistler, bannif and a few ova places but funds abit low so bansko seemed the place to go, the runs i hav heard are the steepest there and the longest, FANTASTIC views ova the town. im looking forward to the 14km ski road!!! u heard of that???!!
It's a good area to ski (or board). All new lift equipment, well maintained pistes. Was there in March this year, stayed at the Hotel Bansko which was adequate - warm dry and clean, food indifferent - I would go back. The Strazhite looked like the best hotel in town - recently renovated, and the closest to the ski area. Listed here as a three star, but actually 4. Also the pistes are a lot more extensive than the maps here suggest. (no, really, I _do_ like this website)
Enjoy
