bansko stop sale on lift passes

Well i never thought i would see the day when Bg ski resorts would consider health and safety foremost above income, but it happened yesterday,
the day before last 70cm of snow fell overnight in bansko and by 12 they stopped selling lift passes because the mountain wasa so crowded over 10,000 people or so the news said

Hi Michelle - Did close to 70cms really fall on 4th/5th, the webcams don't show trees and roofs covered with too much white stuff. Just keen to get the current picture as travelling out soon. Rgds

according to the bg news reports yes 70 cm fell overnight the day before yesterday, bulgaria has extreme winds at the moment so could answer why the snow is not on the trees, really couldnt say as im in pamps, im sure you will have a fab time

I would definately estimate the snowfall to be around 70cm... As for the mountain, it has been rammed. High winds have closed all the lifts above Shilligarnika...
We skied yesterday down at Challin Valog, new snow on top of ice, lovely ... As for Ulen stopping selling passes, Mr D.Snell was actually asked if he really wanted to buy one as there were so many lifts closed ??? I think its just that they had seen him ski, and considered health and safety

Cheers Steve. I brought a pass at about 13.00 from top station after having a lift on from Steve. I was asked if I really wanted one much to my amazment I said yes why? Because all lifts are closed apart from 4 man to above Shilly and Chalin Valog.

70 cm of snow fell ?????? haha not in the Bansko I am staying in.

Would be interesting though to know the exact snowfall in the town, as it was quite heavy... strange as you drove up the mountain with mandatory chains to discover the snow was actually less
