Bansko is by far the better of all the Bulgarian ski resorts; for the quality and length of ski runs, height of resort, ethnic culture and general atmosphere.

Bansko is not quite as busy and popular as Borovets and Pamporovo, although, no doubt it will be attracting more and more people over the next few seasons (as a result of the excellent reviews) which, in my opinion, will ruin that which makes Bansko most special. Maybe i'll be proved wrong - and I hope so!

Sofia is the better airport to fly into as it is a shorter transfer. The Strazhite is, in our opinion, the better hotel in the area. However, the newly built Grand Arena is looking very nice and well worth the few extra pounds to stay there.

Hope this helps. You'll love Bansko - honestly!
