basic info

Hi I am coming over from (sunny) South Africa in a week and hope someone can help me with important info, such as:
Most important: cost of beer?
current snow conditions (fairly important)
voltage used (110 or 240V)
Can I hire ski clothing (pants) or buy it readily there? There is not a huge ski market here!

average meal costs etc. thanks

cheers

re: basic info

Let us know which resort Mike, and we can up-date you on conditions.

Standard European 2 pin plugs are required, 110v.
Beer, ranges from 30p to 70p UK money. (decent stuff too.)
Hiring of ski clothes is not available, but there are many shops selling gear and very cheap too against UK prices.
Hair dryers are not provided by the hotels.

re: basic info

the electricity is actually 220v (any UK 240v device will work but take a 2 pin adaptor)

re: basic info

Hi

On ski Clothing prices, I brought a nice Ski jacket (made by Diel, a bulgarian brand) for £60. Ski Trousers are cheaper again. All other stuff, like warm tops, socks, gloves, hats etc are also very cheap.

Have Fun

re: basic info

Pamporovo hotel has built in hair driers in most rooms, The beer and drinks prices vary according to venue and altitude, the lower the cheaper. The ski gear v Uk is cheaper but quality and technology ie breathability varies, good ski gear aint cheap. Gortex rules ok.

re: basic info

Hi Pete

Borovets, we will be staying at the Iglika.

I can get some basic ski clothing here (probably more suited to a wet rainy day) for around 40 pounds.

Good to hear beer is resonably priced.

cheers

re: basic info

Sorry, don't quite know why I put 110 v when I know it's 220 v Neutral

OK some up-market hotels may have dryers, but very very few.
Condition in Borovets are far from perfect, but sking is possible to a
reasonable standard. More snow is expected any time so I'm sure all will be fine for you.
