I have just had a fantastic holiday with my boyfriend in Bansko and would highly recommend this lovely resort. I was new to skiing and very nervous and although the mountain provided challenges, I am so glad we chose Bansko.
Ski school was great, our instructor Lydia was brilliant. Bansko does lack easier runs but a good instructor will make up for this.

We stayed in the Stazhite Hotel which was very good with warm swimming pool and lovely rooms. Evening food was not great but this encouraged us to venture out and find other places to eat wonderful food (so cheap!). I would particularly recommend the little bar directly opposite the hotel.

Yes Bansko ski resourt is nice.However in Bansko the town most of the hotels are owned by organised crime. Lets hope the one you stayed in is not.
Bansko seems to be the den of one particular drugrunner nicknamed 'the snout' and he is oficially expected by the police to replace the gunned down (in Amsterdam) Kosjo Samokoveta, he used to own much of Botovetz.

That is sad news Ned.I am not 'up to date' with this kind of culture but in a way I'm not too suprised. The hotels did contrast in an uneasy way with the old and partly tatty town.
Thinking about it, I suppose it's not that unusual? I expect holiday makers in many places are in someway funding some sort of criminal activity. What's the solution?
