re: beer

You can buy the local stuff 'Kemenitza' think thats what it was called for about 70p (about a pint + 1/4) Tastes quite nice, but its a bit gassy I wouldnt recommend drinking more than 12 bottles of it . Imported beer costs about £2 a bottle, but u get the biiggg bottles eg Stella + Becks

Hope u have a good time! Neutral

re: beer

Hey Joe, the prices they call the other ones are these you pay in the central bars.
The name of the beer is Kamenitza it is brewed in Plovdiv. And you can choose different kinds of them, light, export, dark, strong and without alcohol.
There are much more breweries, f.e. Zagorka, Ariana i.e Most of them are not so strong light beers have only around 4 to 4,5 % alc. Export 5%, Strong 9%.
Beer cost in a normal bulgarian super market, around 0,38 to 0,60 lev. The foreign brands, mostly ...

In the Bars the prices are higher and it is the clue that you pay in the central bars much more, f.e. in Borovez. In the old town around the postoffice a pint is 1,20 lev in the modern centre you pay around 2 and 2,50 lev sometimes 3.

re: beer

I was told by one of the locals that Kemenitza have recently been bought by Heineken, so it can't be that bad.

I thought it was just as nice as any of our lagers to be honest!
