best way with money?

best way with money?

Hi, Whats the best way to take money to Bulgaria? Going to Bansko on 27th and not sure whether to take loads of Levs with me or use cash point or take pounds and change in bank? Also travel agent trying to get me to have a prepaid card with Levs on??? not sure how this works. Any advice would be fab.... Thanks in advance

You cant rely on the cash machines unfortunately, this is due to the lines going down on a regular basis. I take sterling not 50s, clean (ish) notes, and about £100 of levs. cant help with best places in Bansko, but some of the change booths will take money from a card, just watch the charges. In borovets the best place is the bank 'under' the samokov hotel, in the entrance to the ski school. I can also recommend the 'crown' change place opposite the new royal plaza appts,(they will barter ...

if you take sterling make sure they have no writing on them and they are not torn as will not take them , I found that to be the case in borovets last year.

I always take sterling and have started to save the crisp £20 notes out of dispensers already. I always take too much so don't have to change it when I get home. I still have a couple of hundred levs from last year so that will see us through the first few days.If you book any trips or entertainment with the reps they take both curencies and cards.
